Terms of Service
Last updated: June 29, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and CompanyReceipts ("CompanyReceipts," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the CompanyReceipts iOS app, the web dashboard at companyreceipts.com, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
CompanyReceipts is a receipt and expense manager. It lets you capture receipts, record and organize their details, separate receipts by business, reconcile them against card and bank transactions, route them for approval, and export reports. Some features (such as cloud sync, web access, team sharing, bank reconciliation, accounting export, and certain exports) depend on your subscription tier or on connections you choose to enable.
2. Eligibility & your account
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, and able to form a binding contract.
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
- You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it current.
- Notify us promptly at support@companyreceipts.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
3. Subscriptions, billing & renewals
We offer a free tier and paid plans. Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly) and renew automatically until cancelled.
Purchases through the Apple App Store
If you subscribe inside the iOS app, payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation, and billing, renewals, refunds, and cancellations are handled by Apple under your App Store account and the Apple Media Services terms. Your subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel it in your device's Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Purchases through our website
If you subscribe on companyreceipts.com, payment is processed by Stripe, and you can view invoices, change, or cancel your plan through the billing portal in your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Taxes, price changes & refunds
Prices are exclusive of taxes unless stated, and you are responsible for applicable taxes. We may change prices or plan features for future periods on reasonable advance notice. Except where required by law or expressly stated, payments are non-refundable; App Store purchases are subject to Apple's refund process.
4. Your content
You retain all rights to the receipts, images, recordings, and data you put into the Service ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you and, where you enable sharing, to the organization members and connected services you authorize. You represent that you have the right to provide Your Content and that it does not violate any law or third-party right. You are responsible for maintaining your own copies of important records.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, infringing, or abusive purpose.
- Upload content you do not have the right to upload, or that infringes others' rights or violates any law.
- Attempt to access data that is not yours, or probe, scan, or breach our security or access controls.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, or reverse-engineer it except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law.
- Resell or commercially exploit the Service except as expressly allowed by your plan.
6. Teams & organizations
If you create or join an organization, an administrator controls that organization's settings, membership, roles, and shared data. You understand that receipts and records you submit within an organization may be visible to administrators, approvers, and managers per the roles assigned, and that an administrator may manage or remove your access. You are responsible for the data you share into an organization.
7. Third-party connections
The Service lets you connect optional third-party services — including a bank or card via Plaid, accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online or Xero, and cloud drives such as Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, or Microsoft OneDrive. When you connect one, you authorize us to access and exchange only the data needed for that feature (for example, importing transactions or filing a copy of a receipt), your use of that service is also governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy, and you can disconnect at any time. We are not responsible for third-party services or for data once it is delivered to a service you have connected at your direction.
8. No professional advice; accuracy
CompanyReceipts is a record-keeping tool and does not provide tax, accounting, legal, financial, or investment advice. Automatically read receipt fields and imported transaction data may be incomplete or contain errors — you are solely responsible for reviewing your records for accuracy and for consulting a qualified professional before making tax, accounting, or financial decisions. You are responsible for meeting your own recordkeeping and substantiation obligations.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and brand, is owned by CompanyReceipts and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. We retain all rights not expressly granted. If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use them without obligation to you.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that extraction or reconciliation will be accurate. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CompanyReceipts and its suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or revenue, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CompanyReceipts and its officers, employees, and suppliers from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, your connected third-party services, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to us or others. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (such as content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will continue to apply.
14. Apple App Store
If you use the iOS app, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and CompanyReceipts only, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Apple is not responsible for any product warranties or for addressing any claims relating to the app (including product-liability, legal/regulatory, or intellectual-property claims), and your use must comply with the Apple Media Services terms and the standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
15. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which CompanyReceipts is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The specific jurisdiction, venue, and any arbitration or class-action-waiver terms will be confirmed with counsel before launch and reflected here.
16. General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
